Part II: Google Maps Adding Pictures
1. Open the Google Map that you created in Part I.
2. Choose one of the places you would like to visit. We are going to add in a picture, so you need to find one. In a new tab, type in www.google.com into the address bar. Do a search for your desired location.
3. When the results page comes up, Click on "Images" in the very upper left corner.
4. Choose a picture to use. Right click (control click) on the picture and save it to the desktop for now. BEFORE YOU FORGET WHERE YOU GOT THIS PICTURE...be sure you have the proper information to cite the source of the picture.
5. Go back to your Google Maps page. From the menu links at the top, choose "more" and then find "Photos". This will take you to the Picasa Web Albums site. You can sign into Picasa using your Google name and password.
6. There is an "Upload" button at the top in the middle. When you click on this, it will open a window. Choose to "Create a new album". It is probably a good idea to name this the same as your map. Just to avoid confusion.
7. Click "Continue" at the bottom.
8. The next window wants you to browse for your saved picture. Click "Browse" in the first line. Find your picture and click on "Start Upload". After a few seconds, the picture can be found in your album in your Google account.
And here's a cool thing Google will do for you. There is a link on the right side that says "Add location". Click this and a Google Map will show up. Type in where the picture was taken and a placemark shows up. If it is not in the exact location, that's okay. Move it. Click on "Save Location". You can actually do this for an individual picture or the entire album when you create it. Click on "View Map" or "View in Google Earth" on the right to view your pictures on a map.
9. Before you leave Picasa, right click (control click) on your picture and choose "Copy Image Location".
10. Go back to your Google Map and click on the placemark for this location.
11. Click on "Edit".
12. Click on the "Rich Text" link in the box. This will open up a lot of editing options.
13. Click on the mountains on the far right. If you hold you mouse over it, a box will pop up that says "Insert Image".
14. Paste the image location into this box.
15. Click "OK" and then save your map.
16. Your picture should show up in your placemark box. Put in the citation information.
17. Repeat for your other two dream vacations. If you want, you may add pictures to your other placemarks as well.
Adding Video
The easiest places to get video to insert into your map is Google Video and YouTube, but other video can surely be done.
1. Find a video of your dream vacation on Google Video or YouTube.
2. In your Map, click "Edit" and create a new placemark. It seems to be a bit simpler if you don't have lots of pictures and videos on the same placemark.
3. Choose the "Edit HTML" link on the top right. If you have some other information in the box, it might be a good idea to return down a line or two.
4. For a YouTube video, click on the video. In the right hand column near the top, find the "Embed" text. Highlight the text in the box next to it and copy.
5. Go back to your Map and in the placemark box, paste the text. Click "OK", "Save" and then "Done". Choose the placemark and you should be able to see the video.
6. For a Google video, click on the video to open it in its own page.
7. Click on the "+" next to "Embed video" on the right side. Copy the text in the box that pops up.
8. Go back to your Map and in the placemark box, paste the text. Click "OK", "Save" and then "Done". Choose the placemark and you should be able to see the video.
Couple things here, first off, I have had trouble getting Google videos to embed. That doesn't mean you will, I'm just saying...
Also, when you do a search in Google video, you will see that quite a few of the videos that come up are YouTube videos. That is because this is Google and they search everywhere. It doesn't matter where you get your video, just make sure YOU GIVE CREDIT TO THE PERSON WHO MADE IT!!!

5. Select the line.
6. Notice at the bottom it gives the length of the line. In the top right, you can edit the line. Change the color to red.
